Let's try looking at it this way..

So a{} refers to all the links on the page right?

And .gallery li {} refers strictly to the list items in .gallery class.

.gallery li a p {} refers to all the p tags -associated with the links -associated with the list items -inside of the .gallery class.

So to not select a{} would mean that anything out side of the p tags -in the link tag -in the list items -in the .gallery class, wouldn't have the color #6ab47b selected.

a{} selects the whole house's artesian shelves. gallery li a p {} selects the pots (p) under the artesian shelves (a) in the lime green painted section (li) of the kitchen. (.gallery)

Does that make sense?

So do you remember they were talking about the cascading nature of css and specificity?

The Cascading Nature trumps that which has come before, EXCEPT when it comes to specificity!!

So here's the problem:

In line 124 of your name.css file you have this (as you've stated):

/* links */
a {
  color: #6ab47b;
}

and in line 90 of the same file, you have this:

#gallery li a p {
  margin: 0;
  padding: 5;
  font-size: .75em;
  color: #bdc3c7;
}

Line 90 is more specific, so line 124 works for everything but the specific exception -(color for all links except the gallery's list item link text).

So Line 90's color change cancels out Line 124's color change due to rules of specificity -( Line 90 is more specific)

Does that make sense? Sorry if I repeated myself too much!!

from my workspace, nothing visibly changes on my page. Why is that?
