18,938 PointsAnother option is if you have an iPad/tablet and computer. I watch the videos via the TreeHouse app while I work on my laptop. Super handy and a little more portable :)

Notepad++ is fine for you to use to follow along with the tutorials in the course! You can either follow along with Workspaces or a text editor of your choice, it is really just personal preference.

12,273 PointsI'm in the two monitor crowd. And I usually have a couple tabs/windows open on each. My left monitor has the video taking up most, and my note-taking app taking up the remainder (I just discovered Workflowy. Then my right monitor I have the text editor (usually I just work in Workspaces, but Sublime, Notepad++, etc all work) and then the last window will be the preview tab from workspaces.
On the rare occasion I'm not at my desk with the second monitor, I do a lot of pausing of the video and switching between tabs. Nothing wrong with that either. We had a spare monitor from a recently disused desktop quite literally just sitting unused. I wouldn't have gone out to buy one.

17,284 PointsYou can use the Workspace editor as well. I think notepad is fine but I use Sublime 3. If you are using a single monitor just minimize your window with the video and use the other half of the screen to use the text editor...that's what I did before I switched up to a double monitor setup.
