Do I have to use the treehouse console? I'm using linux.

Of course not, when I use a Linux console, I prefer to code in Sublime Text. You can elect to download the project files for each video and work with them in whatever code editor that you'd like. Additionally, there are considerably better and very useful online editors such as Visual Studio Online Monaco. They are not free however. Let me know if you have any questions!
