3,832 PointsDo I actually have to do all these steps? Such as uploading my site and paying for it?
Or can I just watch and learn?

Signing up for the web hosting and domain name service is strictly optional, and won't affect the rest of the course. It's just a suggestion. Once you get a better understanding of web development and have some content of your own to show, then you should begin worrying about registering a domain and looking for hosting services. Having a domain and hosting service with no content to show, isn't really helpful.

22,916 PointsYou can just watch and learn. But if you want to follow the steps without paying for a domain, you can use webserver-software like XAMPP to see your website in your own browser. Treehouse must have some steps in a course somewhere on how to do this. If not, i'm happy to give you more on this.
Good luck!
