1,415 Pointsdispenser.characterName confusion (?)
Alright, so we created a class called PezDispenser and in it, charaterName = "Yoda" See below for the code:
class PezDispenser {
String characterName = "Yoda";
}
Then, this following code gives me "The new PEZ Dispense is Yoda"
public class Example {
public static void main(String[] args) {
// Your amazing code goes here...
System.out.println("We are making a new PEZ Dispenser!");
PezDispenser dispenser = new PezDispenser();
System.out.printf("The new PEZ Dispenser is %s %n",
dispenser.characterName);
}
}
THEN!
Craig added a line of code: dispenser.characterName = "Darth Vader";
public class Example {
public static void main(String[] args) {
// Your amazing code goes here...
System.out.println("We are making a new PEZ Dispenser!");
PezDispenser dispenser = new PezDispenser();
dispenser.characterName = "Darth Vader";
System.out.printf("The new PEZ Dispenser is %s %n",
dispenser.characterName);
}
}
then the result became "The new PEZ Dispenser is Darth Vader"
so, what happened to Yoda? Please clarify...

18,846 PointsYoda is no more. Craig changed the characterName of the dispenser to Darth Vader. All he did was update the variable with a new value.
