Full Stack JavaScript Techdegree Graduate 71,350 PointsThe first thing you need to do for local WordPress development is to start up your local server. Whether it is XAMPP, MAMP, Desktop Server, or InstantWP, you need to have this running for local development.
Secondly, to login to your local website, add the /wp-login.php to the end of your URL. This will give you the username and password prompt needed for logging in.
Once you are logged in, you can locally customize your site and develop your themes.
