Design flow issues

Hello guys, this is how my about page looks like so far. Before making it I have attended HTML, Design, Typography and part of the CSS courses.

There are however always some things that I struggle with designing: header, logo placement mainly and probably also better font selection (since I am stuck also with Google ones at the moment).

Do you have any suggestions for this case scenario?

Can you give me some guide lines or thought process that you generally follow? You look at other designs, or read magazines for inspiration?
