CyberDuck Trouble

I keep getting an error message with CyberDuck when attempting to open a connection with my server.

error message: The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found.

I just purchased the domain from : namecheap.com It was the one suggested in the video by Nick.

I am also using the host company: https://webhostingforstudents.com as suggested by Nick in the video.

  1. Does this message mean that I need to wait for the DNS to update before attempting to make a connection?

Thanks for the help.

can you post what you are giving cyber duck.

DONT POST THE PASSWORD.

Also you can use the server ip address instead of the web address and usually you need to prefix either address with ftp.whateverthenameis.com with username and password on port 21.

Check to see if you server even has ftp enabled.

Kris,

Did you double check your web host assigned username? They usually have limited characters available and so will shorten usernames. Such as:

KrisByrum suddenly and without you knowing it becomes KrisByr

Not sure, I am. But this solution worked for another Jedi:

Hello, facing the same issue about a year later from the original post,
I discovered the resolution by trial and error:
go to Cyberduck menu Edit -> Preferences -> Connection and
uncheck the box "Use system proxy settings" under Proxies.
Do not replace any internet settings, just leave as is.

Took me MANY trials and errors to hit on this simple solution:)

Let me know if that helps, you must.
