Convert your arguments to floats before you add them together. You can do this with the float() function.

How can I convert the arguments into float?

trial.py 
def add(num1,num2):
    return num1+num2
total=add(3, 4)
float(num1, num2)

in your function called "add", you must call the float() function and in the parameter you must supply a number, in this case num1. You must do the same to num2. Here is an example:

>> num1 = 5
>> float(num1)
>> 5.0
