when i post the omposer require --dev phpunit/phpunit ^8 in terminal for vscode i get an error message saying composer command not found

13,561 PointsI'm not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but if you enter something in the terminal within vscode, it will run the line as if you had typed it on the command line. So the error is telling you that your Operating system does not have a "composer" command.
Looking online, I see that there is an optional "composer" for PHP. It sounds like you need to install this, assuming you really want it. If you go to wikipedia and enter:
composer (software)
You will find some more information about it.
