11,095 PointsColor theories
I tend to be creative but normally from a logical, rational and mathematical perspective, however when it comes to colors, contrasts and the "artistic" aspects, I have difficulties. I am clearly able to see and understand the examples in the last 3 videos, but to create my own, or decide how to put together the imagery, size, and color contrasts, I have difficulty.
any recommendation on how to better train my eye?
what question process should I go through?
How do i create something that is eye candy using contrasts, complementary colors or warm and cold colors?
some people are able to see and identify that certain colors go together, i guess i was born with out this skill....

33,293 PointsThe sense for color, layout, typography and general aesthetics is something you train your eye to see. And in design like logic, you take in input and give output. The input here should be good design, go through web design blogs and websites, pinterest is an awesome source of inspiration. Start collecting what you find successful and beautiful and see if you can find why you like it. Always ask yourself, what's working for them that I could maybe work into my design.
In terms of color, it's a vast field, colorists dedicate their whole lives to studying it. Though there are many tools that you can use to train your eye for color. First you must understand color theory, which the course already gave you an intro to. You can use tools like kuler or COLOURlovers to experiment with and browse color combinations.
Hope this helps.
