For some reason the Clear:both; command isn't working and the footer is still floating in the gallery instead of below it. Everything was working as it should up until this point. Any ideas?

The problem is with the missing forward slash ( / ) in the comment block, above your footer type selector. After fixing that, your issue will be resolved.

The only other issue I saw, is the missing semicolon after your color declaration line, but that's not causing any noticeable rendering issues.
