16,594 PointsHi Abe, I broke it down to show how it works
# Write a function named even_odd
def even_odd(num): # that takes a single argument, a number
if num % 2 == 0: # use % 2 to find out the remainder
# return True if the number is even
return True # Even numbers won't have a remainder
else:
return False # False if the number is odd

1,551 Pointsjohn larson Maybe I missed this part with defining functions, but what is the significance of typing "even_odd(num)" instead of "even_odd()"?
For instance, I would've thought my code below would've worked:
def even_odd():
guess = int(input("Type an number and I'll tell you if it's odd or even: "))
if guess % 2 == 0:
return True
else:
return False
