Courses Plus Student 180 PointsCan't upload images!
This is from the transcript for the video titled "Structure the Image Gallery" in the Web Design track:
I'm actually going to pull in all the
images we'll need for the rest of this project.
To download them, simply download the project
files associated with this video.
You should find a link to them next to the video player.
Once you've downloaded them, you should have a
zip file that looks like this.
Next, unzip the file and then find the folder inside
called Image.
You can upload the files into Workspaces
by dragging them onto the Workspaces sidebar.
To do this, simply select all of the files inside the Image
folder and make sure that you don't select the
actual folder itself.
Then with just the files selected, drag them into
the Workspaces window and drop them in the
darkened area that says, Drop Files to Upload.
This will automatically import all of the files.
I followed these instructions point by point but there is no darkened area in my Workspaces sidebar. In the video this area seems to open magically as Nick Pettit moves his files toward it. That doesn't happen when I do the same and there doesn't seem to be a button-click or mouse gesture that will make it happen.
Earlier in this track, there were detailed instructions for EVERYTHING, including how to type a colon (SHIFT + ";")! It's disappointing that this approach is abandoned just when it's most needed.

33,856 PointsHi Thomas, here's a video on Uploading Images to Workspaces. Let me know if that helps out.

Thanks for your follow-up idea. As a matter of fact, I AM using Firefox. I'll try Chrome. Thanks again!
Thomas Mora
Courses Plus Student 180 PointsDustin - I switched to Chrome and it worked - but only partly. The darkened area labeled Drop Files to Upload now appears but once I drop the files into that darkened area they don't appear as a list in the sidebar, as they do in the lesson video. This is getting WAY too frustrating.

33,856 PointsHi again Thomas, sorry about the trouble you're having. I'm going to suggest you contact support to see if they can help get this resolved for you.
Otherwise, here's some things I would recommend. If you have any ad-blocking software, or antivirus with certain features, that could be what's causing it. Try disabling those and restarting the web browser. If you don't mind sharing what you have installed for those or any browser plugins as well, I might be able to help a little further. It most likely sounds like the culprit is something to that effect.

793 PointsHi Dustin and Thomas, I am having the same exact issue as well. I was using firefox and was unable to drop images into the workspace. I switched over to Chrome as you suggested and the darkened box appeared in the work space and I was able to drop the files, but every time I drop the files into the dark box nothing appears after in my workspace sidebar. I will disable my blocking software and see if that helps and let you guys know.

33,856 PointsIf you could, that'd be great. And if not, I'll try to tag the developers for Workspaces.

Courses Plus Student 180 PointsGuys, I don't think I have any add-ons on Chrome. I do have Ad-Aware and Avast on but, as a technological ignoramus, I wouldn't dare turn them off even if I knew how to do that, for fear of the undesirable effects it might have on my expensive computer generally.
Dustin Matlock
33,856 PointsThomas, I assume you mean ad-blocking software. If that's the case, you don't have to disable it; just shut it off for 5 minutes, and don't visit other websites for that time. If you want, tell me which ad-blocker you are using, and I might be able to replicate if it's causing the issue.
Thomas Mora
Courses Plus Student 180 PointsDustin, no I have no ad-blocking software on Chrome. Ad-Aware and Avast are anti-malware and anti-virus software installed on my computer. I do have a lot of add-ons, including Ad-Block on Firefox, but I've switched to Chrome for Treehouse at your suggestion.
Dustin Matlock
33,856 PointsI'd suggest whitelisting Treehouse on both programs. Also, you could probably remove Ad-Aware, since having two anti-virus programs isn't usually recommended.
Thomas Mora
Courses Plus Student 180 PointsI run Ad-Aware and Malwarebytes (which I neglected to mention) as back-ups to Avast whenever my computer starts slowing down or otherwise behaving oddly. This was advised in a PC Magazine or CNET article (can't remember which) I read by a guy who seemed pretty knowledgeable on the subject. I've been using his system for at least a year or two and it works very well.
I'll try your whitelisting suggestion, though (as soon as I look up the ins and outs of ''whitelisting''). Thanks for taking the time to help me. I do appreciated it.

206 PointsI am having an issue getting the files to drop into the box. I highlight and drag the images but they are not being uploaded. I did notice that I cant upload a zip file either.
Dustin Matlock
33,856 PointsHi Roel, you should be able to after you unzip the file first.

Thanks for the video but it's essentially a replay of the procedure demonstrated in the lesson video. My problem is that following that procedure doesn't give me the results that you and Nick Pettit get.
When I download the image files, open the img folder, select the image files and try to drag and drop them into the darkened area labeled "Drop files to upload," no such darkened area appears and I have no idea how to make it appear.

33,856 PointsIf you're using Firefox or Safari, I'd recommend Chrome, as it has the most features in Workspaces.
