can't seem to put it all together

I understand the separate parts of the question, but I feel like I can't put it altogether

item.py
# EXAMPLE
import random

def random_item():
  for item in items:
  number=random.randint(0,len(item)-(1))
  item[number]
  return
# random_item("Treehouse")
# The randomly selected number is 4.
# The return value would be "h"

You're close, seems like you got the most important parts already.

:point_right: Here's a few hints:

  • Your function needs to take an argument. Put its name inside the ()'s in the def.
  • You won't need a loop ("for").
  • Put the value you want to return after the word "return" (instead of on a line by itself).

I'll bet you can get it now.
