I think my code's o.k., but my Portfolio images just stay at two columns, regardless of screen width?

You can either post your code for responsive.css or you can take a snapshot of your workspace.

It's difficult to know the exact problem without seeing your code but my best guess is that you made an error (such as a typo) with your media query for the gallery images.
I can't even tell you how many times I would get so frustrated about something not working properly only to realize it was just a simple typo.
You should have the following css included in your stylesheet:
@media screen and (min-width: 480px) {
#gallery li {
width: 28.3333%
}
}
