2,892 PointsCant find symbol?
` ./Example.java:10: error: cannot find symbol } catch (IllegalArguementException laps) { ^ symbol: class IllegalArguementException location: class Example 1 error ' Its referring to the capital I in the IAE Exception that is the objective of this code. Everything else seems to be in order, I just dont understand why this is not a recognised symbol?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
class Example {
public static void main(String[] args) {
GoKart kart = new GoKart("purple");
if (kart.isBatteryEmpty()) {
System.out.println("The battery is empty");
}
try {
kart.drive(42);
} catch (IllegalArguementException laps) {
System.out.println(laps.getMessage());
}
}
}
class GoKart {
public static final int MAX_BARS = 8;
private int barCount;
private String color;
private int lapsDriven;
public GoKart(String color) {
this.color = color;
}
public String getColor() {
return color;
}
public void charge() {
barCount = MAX_BARS;
}
public boolean isBatteryEmpty() {
return barCount == 0;
}
public boolean isFullyCharged() {
return MAX_BARS == barCount;
}
public void drive() {
drive(1); //run one lap
}
public void drive(int laps) {
if (laps > barCount) { //if the number of laps exceed the barCount when it was fully charged
throw new IllegalArgumentException("Not enough battery remains"); //notify that batteries need charging
}
lapsDriven += laps; //increment by one to lapsDriven
barCount -= laps; //decrement by one to barCount
}
}

4,254 PointsWithin your main method in your Example class, you've misspelled IllegalArgumentException
. You added an extra 'e'.

2,892 PointsThank you so much for pointing that out, this has been throwing me for absolutely ages.
It now works like a treat - thank you again for the sharp eye on that spelling!
Kind Regards Louis
