Cannot resolve symbol 'R'

There is an error stating " Cannot resolve symbol 'R' " for the line : setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);

( this is in my main activity and on my onCreate Method )

I tried to rebuild and clean the project and also re-launching android studio. But I still did not remove the error How do I fix this error ?

This error commonly occurs when one of your xml files has incomplete or conflicting data. Go through your string xml values first to see if there are any empty values, if not go through your layout files to see if there are any missing or conflicting values.
