Cannot connect to phpAdmin

I have read other peoples issue and still not found a solution to it.

mysqli_real_connect(): (HY000/2002): No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.

Are you sure the configurations are correct? If you are running on a mac run something like sequel pro(for windows something like MySQL Workbench). And add the same settings if you would connect to the database you know it isnt a wrong poort or something like that.

It's all good for some reason it wasn't working with MAMP as apparently, I had another SQL Server running or something so I decided to use XAMPP and it works fine now.
