public class ConferenceRegistrationAssistant {
public int getLineFor(String lastName) {
/* If the last name is between A thru M send them to line 1
Otherwise send them to line 2 */
char alphabetize = lastName.charAt(0);
int line = 0;
return line;
} if (alphabetize.lastName < 'N') {
return line = 1;
} else {
return line = 2;
}
}

29,567 PointsYou only need one return statement and should be placed right before the last method closing bracket. Also when you initialized 'alphabetize' you had everything that you needed right there so if you say: if(alphabetize < 'N') that is all you need for your if statement; here is the code that I tweaked for you:
public class ConferenceRegistrationAssistant {
public int getLineFor(String lastName) {
/* If the last name is between A thru M send them to line 1
Otherwise send them to line 2 */
char alphabetize = lastName.charAt(0);
int line = 0;
if (alphabetize < 'N') {
line = 1;
}
else {
line = 2;
}
return line;
}
}
