building with spark

When building a web app with spark, why do you not have to do any configuring on the server side? specifically with jetty, such as: creating the server, adding a port to the server, creating context handlers, creating request handlers? when calling methods in spark is this automatically done and assigning a default port to use? and if this is the case, can you just use spark to build the web server side and client side?
