Front End Web Development Techdegree Graduate 33,271 Pointsthere's no equation. it may help to realize that the usual system we use is base-10 and it works exactly like base-2, just with 10 instead of 2. every number is expressed as the sum of some amount of 10 to the x for each digit in the number, so we see the number 134, no big deal, but what it really is is 1* (10^2) + 3* (10^1) + 4* (10^0). 100 + 30 + 4 = 134. in base-2 134 would be 10000110. that's 1*2^7 + 0* 2^6 + 0* 2^5 + 0* 2^4 + 0* 2^3 + 1* 2^2 + 1* 2^1 + 0* 2^0. 128 + 4 + 2 = 134.
