I noticed that Zac uses "wp_enqueue_scripts" as the event that will trigger the wp_enqueue_style function to run. I've typically seen "init" used here for when WP initializes.
I know both work, but is one method preferred over the other?

13,312 PointsThe default WordPress theme uses the "wp_enqueue_scripts" event, so my guess is that's the preferred method.
