Artboard is HUGE.

When I began the assignment, I chose the 800 x 600 pixel size as directed, but throughout the course I've been noticing that my artboard is enormous compared to his. When checking the artboard on the artboard panel, it says 800 x 600 SVGA pixels. I didn't really notice, until this assignment when I thought my type wasn't working because it was so tiny, it didn't show on the screen. Any idea why mine is different?
