Java Java Objects (Retired) Delivering the MVP Wrapping up

args indexing not working.

I've tried all that I've learned so far to rectify this situation but I'm at an impasse. Here is my code:

public class Example { private ForumPost post; private Forum forum; private User author;

public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println("Starting forum example..."); if (args.length < 2) { System.out.println("first and last name are required. eg: java Example Craig Dennis"); } else { Forum forum = new Forum("Java"); // Take the first two elements passed args User author = new User(args[0], args[1]); // Add the author, title and description ForumPost post = new ForumPost(author, "Winning", "I crushed this."); forum.addPost(post); }
} }

and here is the output: Starting forum example... New post from User@4aa298b7 Winning I crushed this.

here is the workspace feed back. "I expected the namesI gave to the args. did not see them. hmm."

I obviously didn't crush it. If you see an issue please point me in the right direction. Thanks to kind soul who helps me discover my error.

ForumPost.java
public class ForumPost {
  private User mAuthor;
  private String mTitle;
  private String mDescription;

 public ForumPost(User author, String title, String description){
    mAuthor = author;
    mTitle = title;
    mDescription = description;
 }
  public User getAuthor() {

    return mAuthor;
  }

  public String getTitle() {
    return mTitle;
  }
  public String getDescription(){
    return mDescription;
  }

  // TODO: We need to expose the description
}
User.java
public class User {
  private String mFirstName;
  private String mLastName;

  public User(String firstName, String lastName) {
    // TODO: Set the private fields here
    mFirstName = firstName;
    mLastName = lastName;
  }
  public String getFirstName(){
    return mFirstName;
  }
  public String getLastName(){
    return mLastName;
  }
}
Forum.java
public class Forum {
  private String mTopic;

 public Forum(String topic){
  mTopic = topic;
 }

  public String getTopic() {
      return mTopic;
  }

  public void addPost(ForumPost post) {
      // When all is ready uncomment this...
      System.out.printf("New post from %s %s about %s.\n",
                         post.getAuthor(),
                         post.getTitle(),
                         post.getDescription());

  }
}
Example.java
public class Example {
  private ForumPost post;
  private Forum forum;
  private User author;

  public static void main(String[] args) {
    System.out.println("Starting forum example...");
    if (args.length < 2) {
       System.out.println("first and last name are required. eg:  java Example Craig Dennis");
    }
    Forum forum = new Forum("Java");
    // Take the first two elements passed args
    User author = new User("Damion", args[1]);
    // Add the author, title and description
    ForumPost post = new ForumPost(author, "Winning", "I crushed this.");
    forum.addPost(post);

    }
}

this line - User author = new User("Damion", args[1]); is actually - User author = new User(args[0], args[1]); I was trying permutations of everything to try and figure out the issue.

One small issue. They wanted you to use args for both first and last name:

    User author = new User(args[0], args[1]);
    // Add the author, title and description
    ForumPost post = new ForumPost(author, "Winning", "I crushed this.");

Saved the day again jcorum. Thanks much. Someone get this man a beer.
