17,362 PointsAre there any linux users here who are feeling left out?
Although the lion's share of technologies I have seen on site are platform neutral, I wouldn't mind seeing a little more love for folks who use GIMP instead of photoshop, Inkscape instead of Illustrator, etc. Maybe mentioning some open source alternatives to "industry standards" would assist in lowering the barrier of to those who wish to enter the field of web design.
With this in mind, I'd like to ask if there's any users of Linux based operating systems or FLOSS out there? What tools to you use, and how would you describe your workflow?

17,362 PointsThanks Rochak. I've been using Kubuntu 12.04. For wireframes and some widgets, I use Inkscape, but I also use GIMP for final mockups. For text editors I tend to bounce between Bluefish, Geany, and Eclipse with the Aptana plugin. For preprosessing I'm pretty much a command line jockey. as I haven't found a good substitute for CodeKit. And there is also a very good browser plugin for Firefox called Autoloader.
Anyone else out there besides Adobe boy? Just joking James(lol).

841 PointsYes I'm a Linux user and feel they should include linux in the courses. They should also update some courses to be current with the languages version. Ruby on Rails is giving me issues with the beginning comands.

17,362 PointsWhat aspects of Linux and FLOSS do you think they should cover? Ruby and the Rails platform are pretty much cross platform technologies. My personal hit list includes GIMP and Inkscape. Also, a decent tutorial for installing rvm and even wordpress under Ubuntu would be nice. Python and Django would also be particularly tasty.
