I would use what you have for now. A MacBook Pro isn't necessary until you go pro. I'm still using a Windows 10 Laptop. Besides, you might get hired eventually with a company that provides you with a free MacBook.

11,850 PointsPretty much any laptop that has an internet connection and isn't over ten years old is good enough. A good laptop never made anyone a better programmer.

678 Pointsthanks for the help. I would look for one. I don't have my own computer at the moment, I am using my sister's and I would prefer to have my own laptop. Specially with this heat and not having AC I could be at the library instead. I would try fry's or bestbuy and see how it goes.

14,940 Points$500? Take a look at this guide by The Wirecutter. They review the best laptops for under $500. I used their guide to buy my laptop a couple of years ago. They have other laptop guides, too, like best gaming laptops, Windows laptops, etc.
