7,599 PointsAnother Server Question
A couple hours ago Jonathan Grieve very helpfully replied to a question I had about setting up a server on which to practice HTML, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, Node, etc.
He recommended XAMPP and DesktopServer, which I am sure are both going to be along the lines of what I need. So I want to start this by saying thank you again.
However, both in the Treehouse lectures on these products, as well as on their own source web pages, XAMPP seems tied to PHP, and DesktopServer seems tied to Wordpress. It's odd, because I'm not sure they really are tied very tightly, and seem like they could be used more generally.
So, if they are more general, is there a reason why the documents associate them with particular frameworks? And if they are associated wtih particular frameworks, is there a more generalized local server application available?
Thanks,
RCM
