Am I missing something blatantly obvious in my code or is this a bug in TeamTreehouse's validation of my work?

231,198 PointsThe problem might be what happens when it does not find the requested id.
In that case, the challenge might be expecting to get back a null to clearly signify failure instead of a freshly created (though empty) VideoGame object.
