42,386 PointsHi Daniel, you're almost there. The index method is used to find the index of something, not return something at the specified index.
'apple'.index('e') # returns 4
In order to get the first character at index 0, you can use use item[0]
, giving you:

for item in items:
if item[0] != 'a':
print (item)
else:
continue
