HTML How to Make a Website CSS: Cascading Style Sheets Use ID Selectors

After placing div tags, my closing section, footer, div, body and html are still all red. Why? https://w.trhou.se/t3jgq7

I think my code is all the same as in the video, so not sure why some of my closing tags are still red.

Ania,

Spelling errors are the cause of most errors. If you post your code we can look through it and see if we can find a mistake. Otherwise it's tough to know for sure what the problem is.

OK thanks. Is there a simple way to post my code?

Yes. Just copy you code and past into the message box. Be sure to format it correctly using the Markdown Cheatsheet. There is a link to it at the bottom of this page.

The error is on your opening div for your wrapper.

<div id="wrapper>" // the closing quote is on the outside of the closing angle bracket.

<div id="wrapper"> // Should look like this

Thank you! That was driving me nuts.

After fixing the div tag, 'section' stopped being red, but these four guys still are

</footer> </div> </body> </html>

You're missing a closing angle bracket.

<img src="img/twitter-wrap.png" alt="Twitter logo"</a> //< ---- Missing closing angle bracket on the image tag.

When I write HTML I write both opening and closing tags first so I don't forget or in this case a complete image tag. Then I add the class or src or href.

Hope this helps. :sparkles:

Thank you so much for your patience. This is not a correct closer: </a> ? Adding // didn't help

</a> is a closing link tag. '>' is a closing backet // these are comment forward slashes so you can write comments in your code that aren't seen by the browser

You need to add a closing angle bracket to the image tag > in between the closing quote for your alt and the closing link tag </a>

<img src="img/twitter-wrap.png" alt="Twitter logo"></a>

You are missing one more closing angle bracket > also.

Also if you look at the HTML that you posted where there are missing angle brackets the character directly after it is highlighted to signify a problem.
