12,776 PointsBrigitt- The correct answers you are looking for: Illustrator is Vector based and Photoshop is Raster based. When I took Mat's class I found it helpful to copy and paste the video transcript into a word document. He is a great teacher but gives ALOT of technical information very quickly. And like Jacob said Raster based applications use pixels.

15,300 PointsIllustrator is Vector based, Photoshop is Bitmap/Raster based. Bitmaps contain pixels (Hence why pixel/sprite art is done in photoshop). Hope this helps.
