I am using CS5, when I convert the line to an arrow, it duplicates. I have to delete the anchor point. However I am unable to reflect the arrow. Thanks for the help in advance.

23,472 PointsHi Angela,
You can actually skip making a line as your first step.
From the toolbar's brush section > use the dropdown menu > click the bottom left libraries button > then, click Arrows > then, select the arrow library you prefer
After that, you can just drag and drop the arrow shape onto the artboard.
Here's an animated gif that will walk you through the steps above: Adobe Illustrator Arrow
(note: to duplicate the shape like I did in the .gif example hold down the "option" key and then click & drag. After that, I used the "reflect" object transformation feature)

2,435 PointsHi prebbbz,
Thanks for your 'drag and drop' answer. I follow your steps and they work fine, but when I try and change the color of the arrow, it ceases to be an arrow and simply becomes a rectangle, and therefore if I try and make the arrow red, I just end up with a flat red rectangle. Upon inspecting the layers, I find that when the arrow is created, it actually creates a group! (2 objects: one is the arrow and one is a rectangle that surrounds it). I can delete the rectangle layer from the layers menu and then it behaves fine, but I was just wondering why Illustrator does this and if I can change the settings so it doesn't do that by default.
Thanks
