how do we do this??
// I have imported a java.io.Console for you, it is named console.
String firstExample = "hello";
String secondExample = "hello";
String thirdExample = "HELLO";
if (firstExample == secondExample) {
console.printf("first is equal to second");
}
if (firstExample.equalsIgnoringCase("thirdExample")) {
console.printf("first and third are the same ignoring case")
}

You have a few problems.
Your second printf doesn't end with a semi-colon.
The correct method name is equalsIgnoreCase
Also, you're checking if it's equal to the string "thirdExample". You have to remove the quotes so that you're using the variable.

isn't a Java method. However, there is a method called equalsIgnoreCase
. Also, you shouldn't use quotes when referring to the thirdExample
variable. If you have parentheses, it will actually compare fistExample
to literally the "thirdExample" string itself, not the value of the thirdExample
variable.
EDIT: I also noticed that you missed a semicolon ; on line 9 (where console.printf("first and third are the same ignoring case")
is).
Remove the quotes around thirdExample
and change equalsIgnoringCase
to equalsIgnoreCase
and your should be good to go
I hope this helps. ~Alex
