28,558 PointsWhat is his main interests when it comes to coding? Does he want to build webpages? Smartphone apps? Desktop Applications? There are a ton of different tracks and courses on Treehouse and which one is best to start on depends entirely on what you actually want to achieve and what your interests are.
As far as general non-specific advice goes, I guess I'll recommend the Python track. Python is a decently popular scripting language for making desktop programs (and can also be used for server scripting) that has become pretty popular as a beginner language.

18,126 PointsSet up some raspberry pi, get him familiar with scratch and how simple code works on character moves, then get him involved in python, but make sure he understand the basic concept behind data types, for loops and if statements before you proceed to learn him something more complicated, if he won't understand it ( or if you don't explain it too good), he might reject learning. Anyway, start with some fun exercises before you proceed to learn him basics.
