This is a binary number. Using the binary system, we can think of 101011 the following way:
2^5 + 2^4 + 2^3 + 2^2 + 2^1 + 2^0
Wherever you see a 1, find the exponent of the number. If you see 0 then the number for that place will be 0. Then add the numbers, after finding the exponents, together.
1 0 1 0 1 1
2^5 + 0 + 2^3 + 0 + 2^1 + 2^0 => 32 + 8 + 2 + 1 = 43

Our binary number is 101011
From right to left, we have:
1 * 2 ^0= 1
1 * 2 ^1=2
0 * 2 ^2 = 0
1 * 2 ^3 = 8
0 * 2 ^4 = 0
1 * 2 ^5 = 32
At the end, we add up all the products: 1 + 2 + 0 + 8 + 0 + 32 = 43.
