it keeps telling"you forgot to define a camel cased String variable named pastTentseVerb"

Treehouse Moderator 145,860 PointsYou're misspelling the variable name. There is no "t" in pastTenseVerb
.

Courses Plus Student 5,098 PointsHi, just rename your variable "past" to "pastTentseVerb" this should solve your problem. Don't forget to rename it at your printf method.
