Okay, so I'm gonna start out
by drawing a gray rectangle.
0:01
And we're gonna use a really cool
tool called the Shape Builder tool,
0:11
which sort of is replacing pathfinder,
if you've used that before.
0:15
And you need to have both shapes selected.
0:20
Just gonna use these shapes as the guides.
0:24
And the way the Shape Builder
tool works is if we
0:28
wanted to join these shapes together,
I can click and hold and drag.
0:33
And this combines the shapes.
0:39
Isn't that amazing?
0:42
Or, if I wanted to hold down option and
subtract out shapes, it can also do that.
0:44
I'm gonna hit undo, command z.
0:52
I wanna remove this portion.
0:54
And voila, perfect.
0:57
There you have the end of our pencil.
1:01
Okay, and so now we need the metal
band that's gonna be right here.
1:04
That's also gonna be gray.
1:10
Let's change that to gray, okay.
1:14
This is looking a little.
1:21
I'm gonna use my direct selection tool and
marquee over this.
1:23
Just kinda move these points over.
